Borrowing

Fill out this form and submit to us so that we can create an Anatolia Libraries borrowing account for you.

ACT instructors do not need to present an ID card at the Library Hub in order to borrow. However, it is necessary for every new faculty member to submit the Faculty Membership Form during their first teaching semester/term. The form is embedded at the "How do I borrow?" question.

Instructors do not pay any fines for overdue materials, however, we kindly request that you return them as soon as possible so that other users may borrow the titles upon request.

Both B&W and color printouts and photocopies can be made using the self-service procedure (for help getting started please ask at the Bissell Library Hub).

It is in the Copy Room (Room 109), Bissell Library lower level.

Instructors may use the Bissell Library printer without charge. Please note that there is a printer for faculty located next to the mailboxes area in the basement of our building.

The procedure is identical to the use of the faculty printer at the basement of the Bissell Library buidling.

1. Login to any public Bissell Library computer
2. Select the page(s) you wish to print
3. Send to PRTSERVER Canon B&W or PRTSERVER Canon Color
4. Go to the Copy Room (Room 109), Bissell Library lower level
5. Login via touch screen with your username (8-digit ACT ID number) / password
6. Select your print job(s)
7. Tap ‘Print & Delete’
8. Once printouts appear, tap ‘Logout’

Library staff can assist you with your printouts/photocopies. Please ask at the Bissell Library Hub.

The learning Hub service is designed to offer advice and guidance (not only to students) on:

• Study skills (the writing process, paraphrasing / summarizing / note taking, critical thinking, time management, presentation skills, avoiding plagiarism, research paper and thesis writing, math and chemistry skills).
• Digital skills (Moodle, social media, digital citizenship, digital storytelling, blogging, podcasts and podcasting, ebooks, MOOCs, i0S / Android / Google apps).

It is in Room 209 (on the Bissell Library upper level in the east wing corner at the back of the building).

Please refer your students to the Learning Hub tutors for one-to-one sessions on writing, study, math, science, and digital skills. Explore the Learning Hub website which includes curated content relating to all the above skills and identify tutorials to add to your Moodle course as links. Don’t forget to promote these online resources to students.

The Bissell Library Lab (Lab 7 / Room 211) is equipped with 24 computer stations for students, one for the instructor, two whiteboards out of which one can also be used as a smartboard, and a projector. It may be booked by faculty for classes via Bissell Library Hub (bissell@act.edu ; +30 (2310) 398-390). Reservations are made on a first-come-first-served basis giving priority to Information Literacy teaching.

• Consider scheduling a library session after students have received a research assignment.
• Work with your Academic Liaison Librarian to design a session that meets the needs of the class.
• Collaborate with your Academic Liaison Librarian so that Information Literacy elements are incorporated into the assignments and activities you provide.
• Encourage your students to request extra support either at the Library Hub, or via chat or email, or by making an appointment with the Academic Liaison Librarian.

Each ACT academic division has a dedicated Academic Liaison Librarian based in the Bissell Library.

By providing:

• advice on subject specific resources and information
• formal or informal information literacy teaching (on how to effectively locate reliable resources in your subject area for you and your students)
• library inductions for new faculty members
• obtaining new resources for the library to support your teaching
• research support
• course preparation support (including reading lists and books for reserve)

Each ACT academic division has a member of faculty who can facilitate communication between the library and the division.

Yes, you are welcome to make suggestions for consideration to your Academic Liaison Librarian. For print books please provide author or editor / title / ISBN / edition (if relevant). New titles for journals and databases can be submitted to us throughout the year will be considered during the summer break.

The Bissell Library can source the article via the British Library On Demand service. You may submit an Article Request Form.

The Bissell Library maintains a Faculty Development Collection shelved separately at the Ground Floor East Wing.
