Bissell Library: Borrowing

Borrowing Policy

Borrowing rules

Library materials may be borrowed under the conditions determined by Bissell Library loan policies. Borrowers must have a valid 8-digit ACT ID number to borrow books.

Library users with borrowing privileges are responsible for the return, in undamaged condition, of all materials borrowed in their name by the due date or upon request of the Library staff.

No Library materials may be removed from the Library without being checked out.

Certain types of materials, such as items in Special Collections & Archives, current issues of periodicals, reserve and reference materials may be used only within the Library. Multiple copies of reserve textbooks may be circulated for 7 days.  Back issues of periodicals may also be checked out.

A library fine will be levied on the borrower of any item not returned by the due date.  Please see the chart below for current rates.

Borrowers who lose a book or other item will be charged the current replacement cost of the item plus a processing fee of EUR 5.00. If the item is irreplaceable, the borrower will be charged the established default replacement cost.
